Memorandum of Association of IndLinux, Delhi

The name of the society shall be “IndLinux”

The registered office of the society shall be situated in the state of Delhi, India

A) The main object for which the society is formed, to be pursued on its incorporation:

1) Promoting Indian language computing using Free & OpenSource software (FOSS). Undertaking, coordinating, overseeing developmental efforts in Indian Language Computing (Indic Computing) domain on self-sustaining basis, for operational, developmental and promotional needs.

2) Collaborating with other volunteer groups, organizations (private, public, government, non-profits) in developing, promoting and/or using computers in Indian languages. To this effect conducting, undertaking, participating in workshops, seminars, and conferences and training programmes related to FOSS technologies in Indian languages.

3) IndLinux seeks to form, manage & coordinate a group of like minded software developers, businesses and academic institutions across regions & states in India & abroad for developing resources, tools, standards & technologies to help enable Indian language computing in all major Indian languages both in text & speech.

It seeks to build national and regional forums to foster regional discussion and pursue development, implementation & advocacy on behalf of all parties interested in the development of Indic-Language Computing.

Promote, encourage, establish, develop, maintain, organize, manage, operate, import, export, conduct various workshops, seminars, conferences & training programmes for software and other technologies and to own, run, franchise, training centers and coaching classes related to various appropriate technologies in Indian languages such softwares & technologies.

Scout, develop and publish on-line resources and forums for the benefit of the IndLinux Community, including developers, users, academicians and technologists.

Consult, sponsor, support, coordinate and launch development initiatives for tools, resources, content, software for making them available for the group members & other stakeholders.

Develop language computing standards, provide valuable technical advice and feedback to regional forums, helping them frame policy discussions and standards, and to provide.

Foster greater regional access to standards processes by acting as a central advocacy group for the community, through linkages with international groups, consortia such as the Unicode consortium, ISO and W3C, as well as with national and state governments bodies.

Liaison with Government, Linguistic & NLP groups & academic institutions development of tools & resources and interface with the Industry to take tools and resources developed to the community.

To protect the loss of rare/endangered languages by developing standards and tools for digitizing these languages and there content, also promoting the use of these languages amongst the community through text, speech and multimedia.

To take commercial, social & educational projects for development, promotion and dissemination of local language technology and solutions.

Develop models for enabling outreach of local language technologies & solutions, provide consultancy to commercial entities, developmental organizations, government departments for appropriate use of the technology.

To conduct research to develop, test, experiment technology models and network individuals and organizations with users and developers engaged in similar areas or having similar business or social interests.

Foster support, organize or conduct with or without collaboration with government, private or non profit institutions, trainings, conferences, seminars, mass media programmes, campaigns & competitions, educational research, general education, research laboratories, dissemination of knowledge and building awareness for meeting the primary object of the company and to award prizes, freeships, certificates or similar awards in respect there of, to document, screen appropriate technology models and create databases of the same, building a knowledge bank of such cases and to do experimental research on such knowledge and similar models, to support organize or conduct surveys anywhere in India and World to determine market size and various parameter related to use, business and network development.

To support or to undertake experimental research and setup, operate research laboratories to assist development of appropriate technologies as per the main objective.

To make a conscious effort develop a protocol for sharing a part of benefits, intellectual assets, equity with the community and society from whom we derive the human spirit of sharing and caring and to establish mechanism for identifying, researching and developing networks and markets for these technologies.

To subscribe or give donations, grants to, financially or otherwise to aid educational, charitable or other institutions or bodies (except religious charitable, educational, social institutions or any institutions, organizations, bodies involved directly or indirectly biased to any one, other or all religions, racist groups, cult groups and other groups promoting animosity in society on account of race, religion, caste, class and creed) which by reason of their objects or location of their operation or any other reason the company may think fit.

To provide all or any of the following services namely information systems development, installation, configuration, trouble shooting consultancy, website development, hosting and publicizing on world wide web (WWW), to act as consultant, agent, franchiser, job-worker, representative, advisor
