Translation Framework BoF
Attendees: Axel Hecht, Dmitris , Runa, Karunakar, Prasad.
Aim of this BoF was to discuss issues in building and using a Translation database, which could act as single framework to keep a consistent database of translations which could be used. Transifex, Pootle, Entrans were discussed. Main aim from Hindi language perspective was to have a single database of translations & a dictionary, which could be looked up when starting with new translations. On issue raised was using such database with multiple projects which have different licenses & how they would affect usage of a common source.. eg if tranlations from GPL project (KDE/GNOME) could be put in Mozilla/ OpenOffice.org which have different licensing and also have a different workflow for translations.
While no conclusions were reached, but aim is build a system on the lines of TranslationFramework to see if we could have a useful product.
