Featured ArticleFor sometime now, the L10n initiatives focussed on making components of the FLOSS stack available in the local languages. Currently, the major groups including IndLinux, Ankur have taken the focus to the immediate upper level - application level L10n and deployment thereof.
L10n per se would remain only a concept or an exercise in geekdom if not properly integrated into existing processes within the framework of the Government. To achieve such goal, one way would be to create a forum wherein a participatory approach is possible. A related link has a comment by Ashish Sanyal, director, Centre for E-governance, that the Centre and state governments are expected to spend around Rs 5,000 crore over next two years on e-governance.
